Happy 4th (or Monday for the rest of the World)!

Hi all.

I've counted and tallied the votes and opinions of you all and others - for Jonathan's variant cover the favourite choices were as follows:

A) Team shot.
B) Action shot featuring just the character Myth.

If you have a preference between these two, please let me know. I'm going to keep this poll open for the next week and a half.

More updates to follow soon - I'm hoping to have enough pages to put together a preview book soon (page one is currently being reworked - once this is complete, the preview will be finished off, lettered and created).

I also wanted to share this with you - it's a Collector Card of the character Front Line - who will be featuring in the second season, and the second set of Cards, coming soon...

Front Line - art by Dan Smith

He seemed appropriate.

Have a great, safe and fun filled 4th everyone who is State side - for everyone else, happy Monday!

Choosing a Variant cover, pt. 1

I wanted to share some of the process work for the book with you, giving an insight into the production side of the project.

For the issue one variant cover, I really wanted to feature something by Jonathan. His interior work is really establishing the theme and tone of the book, and he has such a great handle on the characters.

I told him to go with what he felt worked, but to keep in mind that this was the first issue and so the first time that we would be seeing these characters. Something with all three in the image would be preferable, but if he had an idea for a single character cover, he should feel free to share this.

Jonathan offered up 9 possible takes, seen in the image below.

These are just the rough thumbnails to give an idea of composition.

I really liked the dynamic look of the individual covers (numbers 2,3,4,6,7,9). They give off an excellent sense of the power and energy of the characters. Jonathan also seems to get the warmth and humanity of the character Optiman (numbers 3 and 7, in particular).

However, from an editorial point of view, the layout of cover option number one really worked for me. Containing all three characters looking out to the audience, it felt like an introduction to the world.

If you have a favorite thumbnail, or opinion or any questions, please feel free to share them in the comments.
